step by step - laying out stepping stones
step by step - laying out stepping stones video. Today, I'm finishing off a garden makeover in Redhill. The weather has been intense, and getting the soil prepared was an absolute nightmare, but as you will see by the end of the video, these stepping stones were the cherry on top. Really pleased with how the whole garden came out, but also very pleased with the line and spacing I got on these stepping stones. Hope the video helps but if you have any questions, leave a comment. Cheers.

Rotavating for New Lawn Turf

Rotavating for New Lawn Turf video. This is an older video that I've re-edited, to remove some parts that were irrelevant and I've added some additional notes in the video for clarity. This garden transformation project was great to do, but the soil was like iron. What should have been a 2-3hr job, took nearly 7hrs in the end. But the effort was worth it. When I post up the final video with the...

    I am trying to find replacement fuel hose for a small strimmer whose pipes and primer bulb have all rotted. Most of the suppliers of the standard clear plastic type pipe say don’t use theirs with E10. E5 only. And I suspect that the suppliers that done say are just dodging the issue. No one claims E10 compatibility. Seems that E10 softens the pipe. So has anyone found that E10 rots their pipes? Using a petrol additive seems unlikely to stop this problem, as there is still 10% ethanol there. Only pipes I can find that are E10 compatible are the thicker rubber covered ones and there isn’t any way to use these thicker ones in my strimmer. So I need to use super unleaded only it seems.

      Hi. I use super unleaded AND I add in the Briggs & Stratton fuel additive. I have not had and problems on my strimmer or my blowers. Seems to be working so far. Might be worth a try. Hope that helps. Thanks for posting and I hope you find a solution. Nick.

    Thank you for this video! I’ve recently taken on a house with a huge garden. Previous owner left tons of weeds but also a dutch hoe amongst other tools I’m trying to learn the name of. This will make the prospect less daunting 🌱

      Hi Sapphos. That’s how I started my gardening business. The house we had just moved into in 2002 had a fab garden that had been meticulously tended to by the previous owners, then left to go to ruin. I lost my job and in between interviews was trying to retrieve the garden. My better half suggested starting a gardening business and here I am 22 years later with a great business and a UA-cam channel. 😁Good luck finding your garden. Thanks for posting. Nick.

    I used Mo Bacteria for 2 years running lawns were very good, HOWEVER after I stopped using it (cost) my lawns have been terrible !!far far worse than the ever were , I never connected this to using MoBacter !!!!! but reading comments I am convinced that it was the MoBactor that had caused this on going problems…. My advice is don’t use it.

    I only found this video after my petrol lawnmower had completely seized up. I had tracked the oil and all was ok until the first cut after the winter. I used fuel purchased last October that had been in a jerrycan and had no idea that E10 would cause issues. I have made the decision to move to electric, as an excellent offer on Greenworks for a lawnmower with 2 x 4Ah batteries, trimmer and hedge cutter for under £270 was available. I only have 4 small to medium lawn areas and believe battery power should cope with all of it. Sadly I think E10 fuel is just not viable for garden equipment and the experience makes me wonder about all those car engines that must not be as healthy.

      I still use moss weed & feed but I don't spread it dry, firstly I scarify / rake the lawn, I then put the moss weed & feed into a watering can let it turn the water colour a bit, using two or three watering cans so do a production line so the stuff not diluted sink too the bottom. Then pour it over the lawn topping up the can with a hose pipe them use the other cans doing the same, so it's instant no need too water in. All I need to do is wait two to three weeks then rake it again with the scarifier. I believe you get better coverage this way & little chance of burning the grass & moss weed & feed is way cheaper plus the moss taken out can still be used for compost as long as it's put away in another pile thats not used for at least 12 month's. But I still do this when rain is due just in case. Works for me

    The same equipment you refer to is used in Brazil, where the mandated fuel is E27 and there are no reports of ethanol creating excessive damage. What can you possibly imagine would make equipment in your country not able to also use E10 or E15 or E20 or E27?

    • @NickBarban
      @NickBarban 9 місяців тому

      Hi. Although it does affect vehicles, this video is specifically to garden machinery. Fuel can be left in the tanks of certain equipment and the separated fluid that results, is the main cause of the problems, not the E10 when it’s fresh. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for posting. Nick

    My little used 2018 bought two stroke standby generator was fuelled up in November 2021. A power cut in March 2022 started the generator and it ran for around 15 minutes then cut out. When I went to restart it it did not sound right so I tried the manual pull cord and noticed immediately that there was very little compression resistance. A stripdown revealed a scored cylinder bore that was beyond repair and at the time I thought that I had added too little oil to the fuel. I have since learned about this and I am really angry that the oil companies or government failed to get the message out that this fuel is poison to some engines. I never knew about the problems with E10 petrol as I was never informed about it but it has cost me a £189 generator. I used to believe and try to be "green" but now they can shove it where the sun does not shine thanks to this policy of blindly introducing a fuel that wrecks small engines and many old cars.

    Hmmm, yes, same experience for me. One of my customers has now had me leave a large part, about half an acre, of their lovely lawn unmowed all summer..... I have to (grudgingly) admit that a small section that we've done the same with over the last several years IS now getting more and more wildflowers appearing, so it does seem to work over time. I'm just really dreading the end of summer mowing of this lot as the obligatory collection/raking up, to avoid adding fertility, is a real drudge.... Another day, another £.

    Isn't it COOL how the distorters of truth talk about tons of CO2 when it's a gas. Sure chemists have a way to come up a theoretical weight of gases that float over our scales without registering an ounce but you have to admit these TON numbers are great for pushing fear and surrender to stupid ideas as adding alcohol to fuel and forcing the sheep by law to loose choices.

    Gave up using regular pump petrol and have moved to aspen. I had 2 stroke oil so i went for aspen 4 and mix stihl hp super with it at 45:1. I dont give in to us causing climate change and i hate electric/battery tools.

    Thanks for the vid. Remember, E5 doesn't mean it has 5% ethanol, it means that's the maximum it may contain (same with E10). This can vary depending on fuel supplier and location. For example, Esso E5 in the midlands and the south of England contains 0% ethanol however they are legally required to label it as E5 despite it having no ethanol. I use E5 for all my garden machinery
